MEDTECH IN ASIA

In an informal, one-on-one discussion, Yoh Chie Lu, founder of Biosensors International, will share his perspective on opportunities and challenges for innovation in Asia.

Mr. Lu is the founder of Biosensors International Group, Ltd. and was its chairman and CEO from its inception to 2008. He retained his leadership position as chairman until his retirement in 2016. Mr. Lu has more than 30 years’ experience in the medical device industry. Prior to starting Biosensors, he established Asia-based operations for themedical division of Gould Inc. in Tokyo. He participated in a management-led leveraged buyout of the division from Gould and continued as president of the Asia-Pacific division before taking the company to IPO on Nasdaq, where it was subsequently sold to British Oxygen Corporation. Mr. Lu is active in both the international and local medical arena as an entrepreneurial angel investor. He is a general partner at Majuven Pte Ltd. and Foundry Singapore, and a venture partner at Vertex Venture Management. Mr. Lu holds a BS degree in engineering from the University of California at Berkeley and an MBA from the Thunderbird Graduate School of International Management in Arizona.

David Cassak, a renowned healthcare journalist, is the moderator of the event.

Stanford Biodesign launched the “From The Innovator’s Workbench” speaker series in 2003 to enable the Stanford Biodesign community and the public to learn from the greatest health technology innovators of our time. Organized as an informal interview and discussion, each event features an individual or a panel of innovators sharing their innovation process, lessons from their career, and perspectives on the changing healthcare landscape.
