Stanford Math Circle
The Stanford Math Circle offers quarter-long sessions for elementary, middle, and high school students who are interested in math. Math Circle sessions are held weekly.
Engaging with Mathematics
Stanford Pre-Collegiate Studies is pleased to host the Stanford Math Circle online for the Fall Quarter. Math Circles bring motivated students together with passionate mathematics instructors to work on interesting problems, encouraging a sense of discovery and excitement about mathematics.
Elementary to High School
We provide programs appropriate for all age levels in grades 1–12.
In the elementary circle, the focus is on logical reasoning, “thinking like a mathematician,” and problem solving.
Passion for Mathematics
These programs are for students who are passionate and excited about mathematics and want to see and do more.
In the middle and high school circles, students are exposed to skills and topics in higher mathematics that are outside the standard mathematics curriculum.
Open to students in grades 1-12, Math Circle classes will meet one day per week for the duration of the academic quarter (10 sessions per quarter). Classes will meet for 1-2 hours (class length varies by grade level) and each class size is designed to ensure that students have an optimal online experience with their peers and instructor.
All online classes will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. We are pleased to offer more class sections than usual this quarter to accommodate as many interested students as possible. Please note that all class times are in Pacific Time, but students from any geographic location are welcome to enroll in the online classes. Students are expected to attend all live online classes, and should only register for sections that are appropriate for their schedule and time zone.
New to Math Circle?
This quarter, we are pleased to offer several class sections that are tailored for students who are participating in a Math Circle or math extracurricular program for the first time. The courses are specially designed for students who are newer to exploring and discovering their passion for mathematics. Like all Stanford Math Circle classes, these courses will expose students to new math topics, build math mindset, and introduce advanced topics beyond the typical school curriculum.
Please visit each individual course page for detailed information about the class section, including meeting time, instructor details, and recommended prior experience. All students are welcome to register for any section of their choosing, and we encourage students to register for the class section that best suits their experience level and schedule.
