The Human Centered AI Summer Program is a 2-week, virtual immersion investigating how AI design can integrate or incorporate human, societal, environmental, health, and economic needs.

As AI technologies integrate and permeate our everyday lives, we become aware of how they impact our lives and the biases inherent in these systems. This class will introduce - investigating how AI design can integrate or incorporate human, societal, environmental, health, and economic needs.

Eligibility: Must be attending high school (grades 9-12) in the 2025-2026 school year. No previous experience with AI required.

Tuition for one grades 9-12 student: $3,150 (two weeks, virtual)

Tuition due dates:

Payment in Full: $3,150 (no additional payments) by June 13, 2025

If you'd like to split your payment:
Payment One: $1,000 (reserves spot in the program): by May 9, 2025
Payment Two: $2,150 (balance due via this payment page): between April 26-June 13, 2025

Tuition includes registration payment processing fees.

• Enumerate different AI systems that are currently embedded in our lives.
• Understand and be able to discuss the impact such AI systems have now on people’s lives, from lifestyle to health to workplace optimizations, etc.
• Understanding the technical and foundation of AI.
• Recognize and understand ethical and bias issues with current AIs and ML algorithms.
• Understand and discuss data and privacy issues with current AI systems.
• Conduct studies and analyze user reviews on AI experiences and develop the ability to implement the first version of AI applications for your ideas.
• Be able to enumerate various issues with trust, transparency, or other problems with AI systems through analysis of previous work and user reviews.
• Understand different ways of design that can mitigate trust issues with AI.

Faculty: Bryant Lin

Dr. Lin, MD, MEng, Clinical Professor of Medicine and Director of Medical Humanities and Arts, is an MIT trained engineer with 13 US patents and founder of several medical startups.

Course Lead: Reza Habibi

Reza Habibi, PhD candidate. I’m working on the broader question of How to achieve mutual understanding between humans and machines (LLMS), specifically focusing on how we can create tailored interactions with machines and enhance machine understanding of these interactions through visual communication. Additionally, I’m exploring the topics of Human-AI alignment and AI education. I hold Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Computer Science, emphasizing HCI, NLP, and immersive, interactive environments.
